Officers are currently at the scene of an armed incident in Northiam, 13 miles north of Hastings.

A girl of seven died from her injuries. Our thoughts are with the families.

Dead Man

Armed officers were called to the scene shortly before 4pm Thursday 11 September after a report of a shooting. After they ensured had the area was safe, they found the body of a man in a car parked outside.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

The area has been sealed off and is likely to be closed for the next few hours.

Chief Superintendent Neil Honnor, said:

“We are treating this as a tragic domestic incident and do not believe that anyone else is involved. At this stage we are not in a position to confirm the relationships of all those involved.

We are treating this as an isolated incident and there is no evidence that anyone else is at risk.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting Operation Stem, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
