The critically acclaimed Agatha Christie Company return to Theatre Royal Brighton from Mon 1 – Sat 6 Sep to present MURDER ON AIR,three gripping radio thrillers from the Queen of Crime, read in an authentic studio setting with live sound effects, in the style of their original BBC Broadcasts.
Jenny Seagrove and Tom Conti lead the cast in the three Hercule Poirot plays; The Yellow Iris, Personal Call and Butter in a Lordly Dish.
Jenny Seagrove is one of the UK’s most respected actresses. Her prolific theatre career has seen her play the lead in almost every West End playhouse, with recent credits including: Noël Coward’s Present Laughter, Brief Encounter, Volcano and The Country Girl with Martin Shaw. Jenny is also known to millions of TV viewers as barrister Jo Mills in the BAFTA award winning Judge John Deed, which she starred in opposite Martin Shaw. When she’s not on stage Jenny works with Mane Chance Sanctuary, a charity she founded in 2011 and which recently won a BBC Sussex and Surrey Community Award for services to Animal Welfare.
Tom Conti, one of the most respected and celebrated actors of his generation, joins Murder on Air fresh from his critically acclaimed West End run in Reginald Rose’s Twelve Angry Men. Unforgettable as the leading man in hit films such as Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and Shirley Valentine he has also appeared as a myriad of different characters on both the big and small screens as well as on stage. Recent movies include The Dark Knight Rises and Street Dance. Awards include an Olivier Award and a Tony Award for his stage performance in Whose Life is it Anyway? and a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role in Reuben Reuben. He and Dame Judi Dench were recently jointly voted the Most Popular Actors in the West End in the last 25 years.
