Dora Bryan-Celebrities Pay Tribute

On Saturday 5 March 2016 a blue plaque was unveiled by the Mayor to commemorate actress Dora Bryan’s connection with Brighton.

Dora Bryan, star of many films and TV shows including ‘Last of The Summer Wine’ and ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ lived for many years in Brighton. She died in 2014 aged 91.

She owned a seafront hotel named Claridges at 118 Marine Parade where celebrities gathered for the unveiling of the plaque by fellow actor and comedian Roy Hudd.

The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Lynda Hyde was also present and told the impromptu audience of onlookers and well wishers, how she had joined Dora’s swimming parties at the hotel behind them in years gone by. 

Michael Aspel was among the throng of well known faces who paid tribute to Dora saying what a fine person she was and how she will be missed.
