Police in Crawley are investigating a sexual attack on a 21-year-old woman in Broadfield during the early hours of Wednesday. (25 March)

The woman was walking along Pelham Drive, Broadfield, at about 4.30am when she was pulled into an alleyway between Snowdrop Close and Sorrel Close by two men.

One man held her up against a wall, while the other touched her both under and over her clothing.

She was then released and her attackers ran off down the alleway towards Plantain Crescent.

At least one of the men was white. Both were in their 30s and both smelt strongly of beer, cigarettes and body odour.

Both men were wearing dark coloured trousers and both were wearing Nike Airmax style trainers, one pair black and the other pair blue and white.

DI Andrew Bennett, of Crawley CID, said:

Although this was clearly a traumatic event for the woman involved, it is an isolated incident and we are working hard to identify the two men.We are working hard to trace the offenders and would ask anyone who saw or heard anything unusual or noticed anyone suspicious to contact us urgently.”

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 130 of 25/3.

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555 111.
