A man and a woman – respectively the driver and passenger in a silver Toyota Avensis – have both died following a crash on the A280 Long Furlong at Patching, near Worthing.

Their car was in collision with a white Ford Ranger pick-up at about 4.40pm on Friday (October 24). The man, 69, and woman, 70, both from Littlehampton, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, an 18-year-old man from Henfield, suffered a broken arm and was taken to Worthing Hospital.

The A280 was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Clapham.
