Motorcyclist Killed and Tourist Arrested In Sussex Accident

A motorcyclist was killed on the A29 at Bury on Sunday (24 August) outside the Squire and Horse pub.

A 20-year-old man from Billingshurst who was riding a Honda VFR 800F motorcycle, suffered fatal injuries in a collision with a car, which happened at around 4.30pm

He had been travelling south in the company of another motorcyclist, also 20, from Fernhurst, Haslemere, Surrey, riding a Kawasaki ZXR400, who was unhurt.

The car was a Volvo V40 hatchback driven by a 69-year-old man on holiday in the UK from his home in Bermuda. He suffered shock, and his passengeer, a 64-year-old woman also from Bermuda, sustained a broken collar bone, whiplash and shock. Both were taken to St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, for treatment.

The 69-year-old car driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
