At the forefront of these are the <strong>Foreign and Commonwealth Office<\/strong>,<strong> the Ministry of Defence, the Home Office and the Department for Transport.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5627\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5627\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5627\" src=\"https:\/\/the-news.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Royal-Navy-ship-2.jpg\" alt=\"River class patrol vessel HMS Mersey\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5627\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">River class patrol vessel HMS Mersey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"color: #0b0c0c;\">The strategy outlines 5 priorities:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"color: #0b0c0c;\">\n<li>to promote a secure international maritime area where international maritime laws are upheld<\/li>\n<li>to help other nations develop their own maritime security<\/li>\n<li>to protect the UK \u00a0by supporting the safety and security of ports and offshore installations, and passenger and cargo vessels<\/li>\n<li>to assure the security of vital maritime trade and energy transportation routes<\/li>\n<li>to protect the resources and population of the UK and the Overseas Territories from illegal and dangerous activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"color: #0b0c0c;\">The strategy also introduces a robust government approach to maritime security decision-making and confirms the Government&#8217;s commitment to preserving the flow of maritime trade and upholding international maritime law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The strategy highlights the importance of the maritime domain to UK prosperity and security.
