While the British Media spends its time agonising over the woes of the Black Lives Matter movement, attention needs to be focused on the plight of the Yazidi girls who were taken as slaves in 2014 and the plight of the 2,800 who are still missing.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 4 February 2021, in the presence of Iraqi and international officials and Yazidi community members, the funeral ceremony of 104 Yazidi victims of ISIS will take place in Baghdad.<\/span><\/p>\n

These victims were executed in Kocho village, Sinjar, Iraq, in August 2014 by invading ISIS forces.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhumation process in Kocho started in March 2019 and the last mass grave was excavated in October 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 6 February 2021, the remains will be taken from Baghdad to Kocho, Sinjar, where the families will finally be able to bury their loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cFor years, Yazidi survivors have told me of the pain and indignity of not knowing the whereabouts of their loved ones.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Many feel that they cannot go home or move forward with their lives so long as their loved ones have not had a proper burial.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Finally, after tireless advocacy by [human rights organisation] Yazda, Nadia Murad [author], and other brave survivors, some families will have some closure. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

“But of course, so much more needs to be done for this community, the victims of genocide. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

“There is still no global legal strategy on the prosecution of ISIS crimes. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

“Investigations led by the UN are an important step; but they have not led to an international trial. And around 2,800 Yazidis are still missing. I hope that, with a new spotlight on human rights in Washington DC, this can now change.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Because of the glut in oil production the West is now in an excellent position to boycott Saudi oil until the missing girls, many believed to be in Saudi, are returned.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to books published in recent years there is compelling evidence that Saudi Arabia provided support for ISIS on the grounds that extreme Sunni Muslims were preferable to Iranian Shia ones.<\/span><\/p>\n
