The United Kingdom Independence Party has selected  political newcomer Kevin Smith to stand as their parliamentary candidate in Hove and Portslade.

He joined UKIP in April 2014 having never been a member of any political party before. He just felt it was time to get involved and after going to a couple of meetings decided UKIP shared the same sentiments as him.

Mr Smith is a retired businessman of Anglo Indian heritage living in the UK since he was 7 years old. He is refreshingly honest over immigration saying;

I was always a British passport holder and entitled to live here. At the same time I believe we must control immigration so to protect the local workforce.

I also want to see more apprenticeships in traditional trades like electricians and plumbers building up a diverse range of skills for the future.

He has also been selected to stand for Goldsmid ward in the Council elections taking place at the same time in May of next year.

Labour’s Peter Kyle is the front runner according to the bookies, with UKIP having every chance to come a close second as the Tory campaign is becoming bogged down with controversy amid allegations of sleaze.
