Brighton beach Sunday afternoon of Labour’s annual conference saw Labour’s former Home Secretary Alan Johnson MP join local candidates Peter Kyle (Hove) and Purna Sen (Brighton Pavilion) in an open air campaign against PAYDAY LOAN companies.
“They are charging up to 4,ooo%, making the spiral into debt worse.” said Peter Kyle, who hopes to unseat the current MP, the Tories’ Mike Weatherley, who has an 1,800 majority, at the next General Election, scheduled for May 2015.
A loud chant of 1,2,3 followed by red cards being waved in the air was reminiscent of Santander’s much vaulted 123 account launched last year but since heavily criticised for hidden charges.
