A 34-year-old man was arrested for sexual assault on 15 December and he has been released on conditional bail until 24 January.
Police are investigating a sexual assault which took place after a 28-year-old woman replied to an advert on Gumtree for a massage. Gumtree subsequently banned all further ads by him.
She invited the masseur to her home address in Brighton for the treatment on 21 November. During the treatment, the masseur sexually assaulted the woman. He left after just over an hour.
The Gumtree advert offered discounted massages for women only.
Detective Constable Leon Ryan said: “I would remind people to be careful when inviting strangers into their homes in circumstances like this.
If you are seeing someone for the first time have someone else at home, if possible. Agree what the treatment will involve beforehand, and don’t be afraid to ask them to stop if you feel uncomfortable.”
Pink Lady Massage Services
Meanwhile police are seeking anyone who has used Pink Lady Massage Services, a Brighton-based service that advertised on Gumtree. If you have used, or communicated with this agency, contact 101 quoting serial 0962 of 22/11 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk
