Retired army officer Chris Higham,60 and companion Carl are setting out on a marathon bike ride on Tuesday 14 April from their homes in Nottingham to Gibraltar at the tip of the Spanish peninsular to raise money for a missing persons charity.
Chris, whose son Stuart went missing in 2011, is hoping to cycle the 1,500 miles in 26 days averaging 55 miles a day. They are self supporting and carrying their own camping equipment, and Chris is under no illusion of the difficulties of the task ahead. After completing a 165 mile overnight return journey he said;
I’m starting to realise how hard the whole trip will be with at least 25 days in the saddle!
