Brighton & Hove City Council Press release
Stanmer Nursery is the place to be in National Gardening Week
For gardening inspiration on your doorstep Stanmer Nursery in Brighton is now fully stocked with plants of all kinds, from perennials and shrubs, to hanging baskets, bedding and wildflowers.
During National Gardening Week this week (14-20 April) the Brighton & Hove City Council-run nursery has an offer of six herbs for £10.
The nursery has been producing plants for Brighton & Hove’s parks since the 1950s and offers home-grown plants to the general public to purchase. It’s one of the city’s hidden gems, located in the old walled kitchen garden of Stanmer Park.
Nursery Team Leader Sarah Carlisle said: “It really is a beautiful place to visit and we’re open seven days a week. There are lots of things to see at the moment. Some of the plants in flower include dicentras (Bleeding Heart), violas, iris and euphorbias.”
Stanmer Nursery also specialises in chalk downland wildflowers. One of the more unusual plants on sale includes Restharrow, a low growing plant with pink flowers.
