Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade
Jaime Martín – conductor
Andreas Brantelid – cello
Closing the season at Brighton Dome is a fantastic evening of musical storytelling, led by former LPO Principal Flute Jaime Martín. Martín has grown into a distinguished conductor in his own right, conducting all over the world, and making his debut with the LPO in 2013.
The programme includes Rimsky-Korsakov’s dramatic and captivating Scheherazade, written as a tribute to the land of the Orient, and after The Arabian Nights. Also on the programme is Elgar’s stirring Cello Concerto, much-loved for its passion and drama, and performed here by brilliant young cellist Andreas Brantelid.
